Commands

Run these in your server. Manage Server is required for all of them.

  /setup

  Pick the staff channel where leave survey summaries are posted. Run this once after you add the bot.

  /survey-stats

  See leave counts, completion rate, DM failures, and top leave reasons for your server.

  /invite

  Show the invite link again (handy for other admins).

  /questions

  View or customize the leave survey for your server. Defaults are a short 3-choice survey plus optional free text. You can change prompts and choices without leaving Discord.

  /filters

  Optional. Limit who gets a leave survey (for example only members who stayed a while, or only people who had certain roles). By default everyone except bots is surveyed.

Customizing survey questions

• /questions view - show the current questions (default or your custom set)
• /questions reset - restore the built-in default questions
• /questions set - change one multiple-choice question. Example: /questions set question:1 prompt:What made you leave? choices:Too quiet|Drama|Not for me|Other Use | or commas between choices. Question numbers are 1-5. You need at least 2 and at most 5 multiple-choice questions.
• /questions add-text - set or update the optional free-text question at the end (prompt is optional; leave blank to use the default wording)
• /questions remove - remove one multiple-choice question by number (keep at least 2)
• /questions remove-text - drop the free-text question so the survey ends after the choices

Choice labels can be up to 100 characters. Keep prompts short so they read well in DMs.

Who gets a leave survey

By default Exitember tries to DM every person who leaves (bots are skipped). Use /filters if you only want surveys for certain leavers.

• /filters view - see what is set (or the default: everyone except bots)
• /filters set-member-days - only survey people who were in the server at least this many days (use 0 to turn off)
• /filters set-account-days - only survey accounts at least this many days old (use 0 to turn off)
• /filters set-roles - only survey if they had at least one of the roles you pick
• /filters clear-roles - remove the role requirement
• /filters clear - turn all filters off and go back to the default

Filters are optional. If you never run these commands, behavior stays the same as before.

Tips

• Use a private staff channel for /setup so leave feedback stays internal.
• Many departing members block DMs. Those leaves are still logged without survey answers.
• After changing questions, new leavers see your updated survey right away.
